Throughout my academic career, I have asked my #mentors countless times to write recommendation letters for me. Similarly, I was privileged to support some brilliant scholars by writing recommendation letters for my #mentees. I have also been on numerous selection committees and reviewed applicants based on their supporting letters. Having said that, I am always inspired when reading those letters coming from students to support their supervisors.

It was such a pleasure and honor to sit on the University of Toronto#Graduate_Supervision_Awards_Committee, evaluating #supervisors who foster a sense of academic integrity among their students, who support future aspirations of their trainees, and who lead a research environment that is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Fortunately, we have so many of those inspiring mentors in our U of T community, which made our job as a committee harder to select the best among the bests. Myself having experienced a toxic relationship with my uncaring supervisor towards the end of my PhD journey, I know how important it is for graduate students to have caring mentors, and I am grateful for getting to know so many of them. >> Caring mentors are priceless. <<

Congratulations in advance to all the recipients of the 2022 U of T Graduate Supervision Awards.
